It eventually led both of them out of the cricket. Recently, on 29th-March, both the Star players ban was lifted and their banishment came to an end which paved their way into the Aussie WC 2019 squad.

Last year in March 2018, the Australian cricket team was in South Africa, during the third test match of the series when the Australian side was in serious trouble, Steve Smith gave the ball to the Bancroft which was then tampered with the sandpaper, caught by the television cameras. afterward, Cricket Australia had to tackle the matter, which they did with a strict approach, and after accepting their mistake, all three players including Warner and Smith were banned for a year from international and from domestic cricket as well. Bancroft did that act on instructions of both senior player so Cricket Australia minimize his banned and allow him to play domestic cricket in December last year. Steve Smith and David Warner finished their punishment later this March-29th and were free to play international cricket from March 2019 onwards. After this scandal, the Australian coach stepped down from his role and Justin Langer took over the office. In a very emotional presser, Smith apologized to his fans and promised Aussie board and his nation not to repeat this at any cost. The entire scandal is known as “Sandpaper Gate” scandal.

Before the events of Sandpaper Gate, Steve Smith and David Warner were the Aussie Captain and Vice-captain of their side respectively. After the scandal both the players were instantly removed from their respective positions, which was the major and most prominent loss of the Australian side. Afterward, the team was then led by Tim Paine, who was new to the Job and fairly inexperienced than Steve Smith.

Australian team’s performance was degraded and going downhill continuously, when finally, AUS vs IND win in Perth came as a relief for Captain Tim Paine. Later they lost quite a few on the trot and in short, the Qantas was ever the same after the demise of Smith and warner.

The suspension ended in March 2019, both Smith and Warner were instantly playing cricket afterward, both were selected for the IPL season 12. Smith was part of IPL team Rajasthan Royals (RR) whereas Warner got his ticket into SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). Both Players had an awesome IPL season 12 so far and performed with magical figures for RR and SRH this IPL 2019.

Because of the lethal combination of these two and some good experience in their bag. Inclusion of Smith and warner into the Australian Team has put the Australian side once again amongst the favorites for the WC 2019.

Come back of 32 years old David Warner and 29 years old Steve Smith gives much-needed strength to the Australian batting lineup, which has always been up to the mark previously but was suffering in recent times. David Warner, a world-class opener with aggressive nature, hits the ball hard, capable of hitting big shots, ultimately benefits Australian side with his strike force in the upcoming mega event. Warner’s presence in the top order is enough to disturb any bowling attack on a given day. Having a player like David Warner with an average of 43.4 is certainly a blessing for any team.

Steve Smith, the young and aggressive captain but a very calm and resistant batsman who is known for his calm and steady batting style. He always had a role at one down position to bring the stability and balance to the Batting lineup by playing anchor innings, which helps the coming batsmen to strike easily and play freely. During the suspension years, this position was a point of worry for the Selectors But now the tables have turned and the vacancy is filled with the Master class of Smith. With just days remaining in ICC World Cup 2019, it’s the perfect magic serum for team Australia.

Inclusion of Steve Smith and David Warner in the World Cup squad will have a huge impact on the Aussie campaign. Let’s see what do they bring to the side as usually most of us don’t get a second chance but when we do, we have to make it count!
